Join the Edinburgh Festival!
The Edinburgh Cultural Festival is one of the longest-awaited and most acclaimed Festivals to celebrate the Capital of Scotland, taking place every year, in July and August.
What is the Edinburgh Festival then? It is a Scottish event which gathers several unique and local Festivals among which, for instance, ‘the International Festival of movies’, the ‘Fringe Festival’ and the ‘Jazz Festival’.
Above all, the ‘Book Festival’ and the ‘Military Art Tattoo Festival’ are strongly representative as tipical Scottish events. Besides, let’s not forget local street-artists, art exhibitions and a variety of entertainment for adults and children.
Certainly, it is a Festival for all, as reported by 90% of visitors. Everyone can join it for fun and curiosity, attending a ‘special and unique’ event, as web-site reviews claim: ‘to make a positive contribution to the community and to make people happy’.
The remaining 10% of tourists complain about overtourism, overcrowded streets and hotel overbooking, even requiring one year in advance for room reservation!
Most of all, dissatisfied tourists complain about the ‘standardization’ of artistic exhibitions and events reduced to ‘commercialization’ and mass-tourism.
In addition to these aspects, overdistribution of flyers and excessive promotional activities in main roads and small urban spaces, making accessibility to Festivals really difficult.
It is therefore necessary to evaluate each event, valorising it for local quality and international uniqueness, avoiding ‘generalization’. To make it clear, it is important to visit the Edinburgh Festival in person, walking on the streets and attending the events as you wish!
