A positive perspective towards sustainable tourism in the Covid_19 context

What does summer 2020-Covid_19 look like? How can we make the most of this period even though the pandemic has not yet been defeated?
The predominant motivation for moving to nearby places appears to be ‘forced’ due to pandemic causes, rather than a mere personal choice of the traveller, who finds himself, so to speak, ‘forced’ to visit places that he would not have considered in tourist conditions favorable.
There is no basis for people deciding not to travel in the Covid_19 context, despite the current reasons of: fear of contagion spread and second imminent propagation, limited economic and expatriation availability.
How is a 2020-Covid_19 summer guaranteed? The propensity to use the car rather than public transport is affirmed, due not only to the partial blocking of flights until July 1st, but also to a question of safety and practicality.
Discovering ‘open-space’ landscapes such as natural parks and cities close to your homes, after the forced ‘lock-down’. This year 2020 confirms the strengthening of domestic tourism to the detriment of ‘long-haul’ destinations.
In the United States the ‘drive-option’ is increasingly popular. Camper trips also appear to be the ideal, economical and fast solution to moving, in open-air and not overcrowded spaces, where social distancing is not a problem.
In Italy, local regional tourism is strengthened with the promotion of holidays in the most characteristic locations and not just in the large cities, which have been most affected by the economic tourism crisis.
The tourist’s desire to be able to take a break and distract themselves from pandemic and economic worries remains, despite the adverse conditions, present.
This other motivation represents the hope in the recovery of the Tourism Industry, one more possibility towards the current and future reaffirmation and economic strengthening both at a domestic and international level.
