Top destinations 2024, where to go?

Considering that at least 30% of italians have already organized their Halloween and Christmas holidays by the end of this year, short breaks and week-end escapes during the pandemic, have been replaced with long-distance green destinations and nature sports activities.

According to the most recent 2024 statistics, outdoor tourism trends are nowadays particularly popular at international level, highlighting eco-sustainable perspectives, like travelling to National Parks or green islands, to relax with ‘forest bathing’ or camping, trekking or any other more dynamic sport activity.

For instance, according to the 2024 U.S tourism rank, the Yellowstone Park and Zion National Park, second and third place respectively, are among the best destinations to visit in October, during season change. First place for Sicily, a cheaper destination in a mild climate to appreciate for its less-crowded beautiful places, beaches and archaeological remains, and again, genuine food and local traditions to discover.

Travelling is still one of the best free-time activities people choose, even though slow economic growth, geopolitical crisis, climate change and inflation cause global tourism market instability. Despite of this, 2024 tourism economy has increased at +15% in comparison to 2023.

Second to eco-tourism, sport activities and events are getting more and more popular, especially among young people on holiday i.e attending the 2024 Olympics. Besides, digitalization, innovation and customization of tourism products are nowadays fundamental for creating ideal tailor-made travel experiences to offer.

At least until 2028, tourism trends and products, including holiday packages and marketing deals, will be still oriented towards leisure sun & beach destinations (100 billion USD) heritage and culture tourism (50 billion USD), adventure tourism (40 billion USD).
