Covid_19 and International Tourism

Currently the intention of the Governments of the various countries in the world is inclined towards economic incentives towards a type of domestic tourism, i.e. which would focus on the national strengthening of this, proposing the valorisation of places within their own borders, rather than internationalization in the context COVID-19.
Logically, the causes lie in the global economic crisis that has affected many populations so that with limited budgets, borders and blocked flights, it would be more difficult to travel, even within one’s own country.
The Covid_19 pandemic has thwarted the tourism-cultural collaboration intentions between Italy and China agreed since 2019 and the increase in outbound, i.e. international, tourism from China to Europe, in particular Italy and the United States.
China, a country that has always invested mainly in domestic tourism, thanks to the vastness and diversity of the regions it can offer.
Even Italy itself had proposed to encourage travel to its territory. In fact, Chinese arrivals were, proportionally, lower than the number of visitors coming, for example, from the USA, England, France and Germany.
The serious influence from Covid_19 could lead to a positive outcome of this tragic situation: the diversity of demand for the economic increase of domestic tourism, such as short or weekend stays and the valorisation of less popular or niche places, defined precisely, niche tourism.
Not only that, once the borders have been opened and travel has been freed, in the near future, people will still be able to travel and, furthermore, by avoiding ‘transforming tourism’, it will ‘adapt to the change’: the Nations will be better prepared to face crises like this. For now, we are waiting for a vaccine, the definitive solution!
