Latest news: China international tourism

During spring holidays, international tourism has reported positive results in terms of offers and demands, especially for leisure and hotel accommodation.
Regarding the business travel sector, tourism increase has been slower due to fuel costs and European inflation redundancies.
Europe has been even more affected by previous 2020 pandemic situation and critical socio-political and economic conditions in Russia.
However, an increase from 580 million to 630 million of intra-european arrivals is expected by 2025. The top three favourite destinations are the following: France (14%), Spain (12%), Italy (9%).
France can offer more international market resources than other European Nations. Globally, the 2023 tourism sector only reports -30% comparing to 2019-2020 pre-pandemic economic condition (-70%).
However, this result has not been relevant in Asia, because China in particular, is still regulated by ‘zero-Covid Policy‘, limiting domestic tourism and subsequently, tourism at international level.
Despite this, during the second half of 2023 the economic situation should be better, therefore international tourism should also increase.
According to the most recent statistics, Asian tourism is currently at -50% comparing to 2019, due to the fact that several Asian nations are heavily dependent on China ‘zero-Covid Policy’ conditions as well.
