Milan fashion 2018: profit and green

Milan ‘Capital of Fashion’, a global icon in this sector, presents itself again this year thanks to ‘Fashion Week 2018’, to represent the constant originality that distinguishes it.

Together with trends and design, it also presents itself as an advantageous tourist destination for the numerous foreign visitors to Italy, who take the opportunity to appreciate a unique ‘concept style’ of art and beauty at the same time.

After having calculated a positive balance of +2 million Euros from the last edition, as declared by the Milan Chamber of Commerce, more than 20 thousand visitors were estimated for the September event which brought +10 million Euros in revenue for the tourism-hotel sector.

Furthermore, not only does the Milanese offer promise to be advantageous for the foreign visitor, but also for the Italian who is faced with a lower overall expense, compared, for example, to the competitive London and New York, thinking only of the cost of hotels and the metropolitan tourist tax, or that of staying in the city.

First New York and then London remain the top two destinations in the ranking with revenues of more than 500 million and 400 million Euros in total each respectively.

Milan also maintains its competitiveness between Paris and Berlin, thus returning to the top ten cities in the ranking, with a total revenue result of +20%, with 50 million euros.

However, it reaffirms itself internationally as a ‘Fashion Capital’, not only thanks to ‘Fashion Week’ which promotes it, but also to the unique characteristics of style and trends that distinguish Milan in the world.

However, it should not be forgotten that the population capacity of New York and London, as well as their territorial dimensions, and the efficient organization of the events themselves favor their success.

This consideration and overall evaluation in relation to the economic results obtained, however, appears to be, in conclusion, positive for Milan.

Despite its numbers in terms of population, territorial extension and more limited organizational possibilities, Milan manages to position itself 9 out of 10 in the world ‘fashion’ ranking, and if it weren’t for these limitations, it could even be among the top 3!
