Carnival tradition

According to the most recent data, Carnival is a Christian celebration preceding Easter, but it is still today a tradition rich in mystery, linked to the history and culture of people and Nations.
During the year it has been reported tha Carnival raises up to around 20% of interest among people from different countries, while during national holiday is estimated around 80%: for instance, Rio de Janeiro Carnival in Brazil is the greatest and most famous Carnival in the world.
Which population is more interested in this celebration so? During 2023-2024 for example, Venice Carnival, Italy is ranked eighth in the international list, 70% of visitors’ interest in Venice as a tourist destination during Carnival.
Excluding big cities, Viareggio is the most importat town for Carnival in Italy,
Carnival is fundamental for its historical and cultural relevance, identifying each population and Nation in this traditional celebration and making this unique, thanks to the diveristy of places and people all-together.
Therefore, during Carnival people get to know more about habits, customs, styles and behaviours of each culture, both at national and international level.
Even for Bergamo Carnival, for example, the ‘Half Lent’ Parade represents a modern but also historical-traditional event, linked to folklore and popular tradition, identifying Bergamo as a ‘city rich in masks and folklore’.
Here we find the masks of Gioppino, Arlecchino, Pulcinella and the allegorical floats, specifically created to communicate proper visual messages about culture and local tradition to all visitors.
